Bhubaneswar, Jan 13: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has decided to introduce online evaluation of answer scripts for all streams in the upcoming Plus-II examinations, scheduled from February 18 to March 25, officials said on Tuesday.

School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said the move will ensure greater transparency and timely publication of results. He noted that budget allocation will determine the scale of implementation, but the council has already drawn up a blueprint to extend online evaluation to the Arts stream, in addition to Science and Commerce where it is already in practice.

The Minister said online evaluation would help overcome long-standing challenges faced by CHSE in releasing results on time. “If adopted, this system will make results error-free and ensure their publication within the stipulated period,” he added.

Examination Controller Dr. Prashant Parida said that while online evaluation presents certain challenges, it offers significant benefits for students. He explained that results could be declared within 45 days, teachers facing difficulties in any district could evaluate scripts from any location using computers, and students would receive digital mark sheets quickly for admission to higher studies.

Council officials emphasised that online evaluation reduces the time required for re-checking answer scripts and ensures accuracy. They described it as the best option for delivering error-free results and strengthening the credibility of the examination system.
