Odisha Plans 20 New Cyber Police Stations To Strengthen Cybersecurity

Key Points

Director General of Police (DGP) has announced that an additional 20 cyber police stations will be set up across the state.

Cuttack, May 26: In response to the growing challenge of cybercrime, the Odisha Police has devised a strategic plan to combat online offenses effectively. As part of this initiative, the state will establish a Cyber Crime Command Center, enhancing its ability to tackle digital threats.

Currently, Odisha has 14 cyber police stations, but the Director General of Police (DGP) has announced that an additional 20 cyber police stations will be set up across the state. These stations will be equipped with specialized personnel, including six cyber experts in each—two IT specialists, two accounts professionals, and two cyber law consultants—to ensure a robust response to cyber threats.

To prepare for this expansion, a four-day workshop was recently conducted for officers from existing cyber police stations, focusing on advanced techniques and best practices in cybercrime investigation.
