Bargarh, July 21: Police seized more than 2100 bottles of banned cough syrup during a raid in Odisha’s Bargarh town on Monday. As many as seven individuals, including one woman, have been arrested in this connection, police said.
Acting on reliable intelligence under the directive of Superintendent of Police Prahlad Sahai Meena, Bargarh Police conducted a raid in Bisipada locality here and seized a staggering 2,171 bottles of Corex, a banned cough syrup frequently misused as a narcotic.
Alongside the Corex bottles, police also recovered six mobile phones and Rs74,100 in cash believed to be linked to drug-related transactions. The raid comes in response to increasing concern over the rise of narcotic abuse and its impact on youth in the region.

✨SP Meena, speaking to the media, said, “The raid was part of a broader strategy to dismantle drug networks operating in our district. We are committed to upholding public safety and will continue to take strict action against those involved in illegal substance trading.”
All the seven accused have been forwarded to court for further legal proceedings, he added.
