Bhubaneswar, Feb 28: Legendary Ollywood actor Uttam Mohanty, renowned for his immense contribution to Odia cinema, has passed away late Thursday night at the age of 66.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy CMs KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida have expressed deep grief over the demise of Uttam Mohanty.

“I am deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Odisha's famous and popular actor, Uttam Mohanty. His departure has created a huge void in the Odia cinema world,” wrote CM Majhi on ‘X’.

“The impression he left in the Odia cinema world will always keep him in the hearts of the audience. I pray for the eternal peace of his soul and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” he added.

Singh Deo also mourned the demise of the legendary actor. “It is with profound sorrow that I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of veteran Odia actor Uttam Mohanty. His immense contribution to the Odia film industry and his exceptional talent have left an indelible mark on our cultural heritage,” said the Deputy CM in a post on ‘X’.

“Uttam Mohanty Ji's legacy will continue to inspire and entertain generations to come. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and countless admirers during this difficult time. Omm shanti,” Singh Deo wrote further.

Parida too expressed deep grief over the demise of Uttam Mohanty. “I am deeply saddened by the news of the demise of veteran actor Uttam Mohanty. His demise has left an irreplaceable void in the Odia cinema world. I pray to the Almighty to grant his immortal soul eternal rest and express my condolences to the bereaved family,” said the Deputy CM in a post on her ‘X’ handle.

The actor, who had been battling liver cirrhosis, succumbed to his illness at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after a prolonged treatment.
