Jagatsinghpur, Jul 10: In a remarkable medical feat, doctors at the District Headquarters Hospital in Jagatsinghpur successfully facilitated a rare, natural delivery of a 5.5 kg baby girl without surgical intervention.
The mother, 18-year-old Saraswati Nayak from Naugaon, weighed approximately 114 kg herself and was admitted with complications during labour.
Initially brought to the Naugaon Medical Centre by her family, Saraswati was later transferred to the District Hospital due to health concerns. Despite the abnormal weight of the baby, a team of obstetricians and support staff managed to conduct the delivery naturally, without resorting to cesarean surgery — a rare occurrence in the district, especially with such high birth weight.
