Sambalpur, Jul 12: Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik on Saturday visited parts of Kuchinda and Bamra blocks and took stock of the situation.

As floodwaters begin to subside in parts of Kuchinda and Bamra, the scale of destruction and despair continues to grow.  Triggered by relentless cloudburst-induced rains, the flooding has left several villages submerged and disconnected, causing widespread damage to homes, farms, and local infrastructure.

In many affected areas, rainwater has entered village roads, leaving them damaged and severing communication links. Residents are facing tremendous hardship as transportation remained paralysed and essential services remained out of reach.

Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, accompanied by the District Collector and departmental officers, visited several flood-hit regions to assess the situation. During the inspection, the Minister interacted with affected villagers and evaluated losses including crop damage, household destruction, and loss of property.

The Minister instructed officials to ensure speedy compensation for those impacted and emphasized that every individual must be provided with their basic necessities, including: safe drinking water, food supplies, temporary shelter, medical assistance.

He also directed district-level officers such as the BDOs and Tehsildars to expedite relief distribution and ensure that all flood victims receive immediate support.
