Koraput, July 19: In a significant step towards healthcare delivery in Kotia area, the local administration successfully organized a mega health camp at Neradivalasa village under Patangi block in Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday.

According to the sources, the event was conducted under the directives of the district administration and marked a key milestone in the government’s outreach efforts in border areas.

Patangi BDO Ramakrishna Nayak presided over the camp, with strong coordination from block staff and Community Health Centre officials, including Dr Bhagabat Murmu. Medical teams from various departments participated, offering essential services to residents from the remotest parts of Kotia.

Local representatives, including the Kotia panchayat sarpanch and several community leaders, termed the initiative a bold statement to the Andhra Pradesh government, asserting Odisha’s commitment to border development.

More than 350 patients from across Kotia’s border villages benefited from the services, indicating a surge in trust and participation compared to previous years.

Previously, people from the Kotia border region did not come forward for such initiatives.

However, after the new BJP government took office in the State, the residents of the area have become more aware, resulting in the successful organisation of such a large-scale health camp. The success of the health camp signals deeper inclusion and development of long-neglected areas, locals said.

The event concluded with widespread appreciation for the organizing officials, particularly the district administration, BDO and the health officials.
