Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: The Odisha government tightened the conditions for implementing road infrastructure projects, making it mandatory for at least 90% of the required land to be available before declaring the appointed date or date of commencement of construction, a source said on Friday.
The amendment to the Odisha State Road Policy, 2025, aims to speed up project execution and prevent construction delays caused by incomplete land acquisition and pending statutory clearances.
The Works Department issued a notification on November 4, amending Clause 5.5(j) of the policy. Earlier, the requirement of 90% land availability applied before awarding a road project. Under the revised provision, the condition has now been linked to the declaration of the appointed date.
According to the amended provision, at least 90% of the land required for a project must be available before the appointed date is declared under the construction contract. All necessary statutory permissions and approvals must also have been secured.
