According to the India Meteorological Department, thunderstorms and heavy rains are expected in the state for the next four days.
The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar predicted severe storms may hit southern and western Odisha. It issued orange alert for six districts, predicting very heavy rainfall. Monsoon is expected to reach Kerala by May 27. Today, a heavy rain alert has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada by the regional weather center.

✨Additionally, yellow warnings have been issued for 18 districts on May 17 and 14 districts on May 18. In coastal and northern interior Odisha, maximum temperatures have dropped by about 4°C in one or two places. The regional weather center in Bhubaneswar predicts that no significant temperature change will occur in the state over the next six to seven days.
Monsoon is advancing towards the southern Bay of Bengal, the southern Andaman Sea, the Nicobar Islands, and the northern Andaman Sea. Forecasts indicate that the monsoon may reach Kerala on May 27 and Odisha in the first week of June.
