Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: Odisha is likely to experience a gradual increase in the chill over the next few days, with minimum temperatures expected to fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius across the districts over the next four to five days, the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar forecast on Friday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that night temperatures are likely to remain largely stable after this decline, with no significant change expected thereafter.

The weather is expected to remain favourable across most parts of the state on Diwali, with no major weather system likely to influence Odisha. However, isolated light rainfall may occur in Malkangiri and Koraput districts.

In the next 24 hours, a yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall at isolated places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts. The remaining districts are likely to experience dry weather.

The forecast also indicates dry weather across the state on November 8 and 9. On November 10 and 11, some districts, including Kendrapada, Kendujhar and Baleshwar, may receive light to moderate rainfall.

The fall in minimum temperatures is likely to bring a gradual change in the weather, particularly during night and early morning hours. Clear skies are expected to contribute to the decline in night temperatures.

Meanwhile, rainfall activity remained limited across Odisha during the past 24 hours. Dharakote in Ganjam district recorded the highest rainfall at 46 mm.
