Bhubaneswar, Jun 30: Odisha has taken a significant step toward data-driven governance by launching advanced tools for statistical surveys. These initiatives aim to streamline real-time data collection to support the state's long-term development roadmap under "Vision Document 2036."
On the occasion of the 19th National Statistics Day, the Directorate of Economics and Statistics under the Planning and Convergence Department unveiled a new suite of tools designed to improve data collection practices.
The launch was formally conducted by Odisha’s Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, who emphasized the state's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge methods in policymaking.
A key feature of this initiative includes surveys using CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing) software — a digital tool that enables field agents to collect real-time, location-tagged data on mobile devices. Additionally, price data collection mechanisms and real-time updates on economic indicators are being integrated to guide timely decisions.

In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the data from these tools will feed into the SDG Dashboard, making Odisha one of the few states with a real-time monitoring system tied to global sustainability benchmarks.
During the launch, the CAPI data collection module, SDG Dashboard, and a new statistics-focused website were also inaugurated by Ahuja.
Officials state that these improvements will enhance the quality, transparency, and accessibility of data required to implement Vision 2036 efficiently.
