Koraput, June 10: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday apprehended an Assistant Engineer of Lamtaput block in Odisha's Koraput district, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a complainant.
The accused Engineer has been identified as Suchismita Parija.
According to official sources, Parija had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a Village Mate for facilitating release of bill under MGNREGA Scheme.
However, the complainant approached the Vigilance officials and sought action against the accused Assistant Engineer.

✨On the basis of complaint, the anticorruption agency laid a trap and caught the Assistant Engineer Parija red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 8000 as the final installment of overall demand of bribe Rs15,000 from the Village Mate.
The entire bribe amount was reportedly seized from the possession of the accused Assistant Engineer in the presence of witness.
Following the trap, the Vigilance officials conducted simultaneous raids at various locations associated with the accused official to unearth alleged disproportionate assets (DA) amassed by her, officials said.
A case has been registered under Section 7 PC (Amendment)
Act, 2018, at the Koraput Vigilance police station in this connection and
further investigation is in progress against the accused, they added.
