Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: In the wake of the deadly car explosion
near Red Fort in Delhi that killed at least 10 people and injured several
others, the Odisha government on Monday declared a statewide high alert.
Security has been intensified at religious sites, defence installations, and
tourist hotspots to prevent any potential spillover of threats.
Strategic Vigilance Across Odisha
Director General of Police Y B Khurania said that surveillance has been ramped up at sensitive locations including the Jagannath Temple in Puri, the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, PXE, MES in Balasore, and the missile complex at Wheeler Island. Urban police units have been instructed to increase patrolling and enforce night roadblocks, while citizens are urged to report suspicious activity.
Coastal and Tourist Safety Measures
Odisha’s 575-km coastline is under close watch. Security
personnel are conducting checks at railway stations, bus terminals, shopping
centers, and religious venues. Hotel operators have been advised to verify
guest identities and report any anomalies.

✨Puri Temple Under Tight Watch
Puri SP Prateek Singh said that security at the Shree Jagannath Temple has been significantly tightened. Entry points are being rigorously monitored, drone activity is banned, and anti-terror teams are conducting regular sweeps. CCTV footage is being continuously reviewed, and frisking of devotees has been intensified following recent incidents involving spy cameras.
Cuttack Baliyatra Security Reviewed
With lakhs of visitors attending the historic Baliyatra fair in Cuttack, DGP Khurania personally reviewed the security arrangements at the venue. Police forces remain on high alert, with increased patrolling and surveillance. He urged the people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or objects to ensure public safety during the festivities.
Deadly Blast in Delhi
According to Delhi Police, the explosion occurred around 6:52 PM in a Hyundai i20 car near Gate No. 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station. At least 10 people feared dead and several others injured in the incident. The blast gutted multiple vehicles and shattered windows in the vicinity. Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that “all angles are being probed”, with teams from the NIA, NSG, and FSL deployed for investigation.
