Kandhamal, Mar 28: A man beat his father to death over a family dispute at Lamapadar village under Phiringia police limits in Kandhamal district.

The accused Suraj Digal was drunk when attacked his father Dakena Digal.

According to reports, Dakena had gone outside of his house to attend nature's call when Suraj, in an inebriated state, reached the house and started abusing his father. Soon a heated argument broke out between the father-son duo. In a fit of rage, Suraj attacked his father Dakena with a hammer resulting in his death on the spot.

Later, the matter was alerted to police and the accused was taken into custody following his confession to the crime.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant Sections of IPC and a probe is underway.
