Bhubaneswar, Jul 28: In a shocking cyber incident, the official Instagram account of the Odisha Higher Education Department was hacked, triggering widespread concern across academic and administrative circles.

After the breach, within an hour, the account began displaying obscene and unauthorized content, including explicit videos and random uploads that violated community guidelines.

The department confirmed the hack and stated that immediate steps were taken to report the incident to Instagram and the state’s cybercrime cell. Officials are working closely with cybersecurity experts to recover the account and identify the perpetrators behind the breach.

The hacked content, which included vulgar visuals and unrelated videos, was visible to thousands of followers before being flagged and taken down. The incident has raised serious questions about the digital security protocols of social media accounts.

A senior official from the department said, “We are deeply disturbed by the nature of the content posted. The matter has been escalated to the appropriate authorities, and we are cooperating fully with the investigation.”

The Odisha Police’s cybercrime unit has launched an inquiry and urged citizens not to engage with or share any suspicious content originating from the account.
