Odisha: Heat Wave Likely, Orange Alert Issued To 5 Districts Till March 17

Bhubaneswar, Mar 14: Heat-wave conditions are likely to prevail in the western Odisha districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Mayurbhanj in the next two days, from March 15 to 16.
The Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert to these districts. Three other districts- Bolangir, Boudh, and Sundargarh- will experience a rise in mercury on the day.
The weather office has also issued an orange alert of heat wave to the districts of Boudh and Sonepur on March 17.

✨People in these districts have been advised not to go outside from 11 am till 3 pm on the three days. In emergency cases, they should use wet clothes, umbrellas, and caps for protection.
They have also been advised to drink sugarcane juice, lemon water, ORS and more water during the day time.
The Meteorological Centre informed that at least eight cities recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. Jharsuguda was the hottest city with 41.4 degrees Celsius. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 38.2 degrees Celsius and 37.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
