Odisha Health Minister Inaugurates Vedanta’s 24x7 Telemedicine Facility in Lanjigarh
Vedanta Launches First-of-its-Kind Telemedicine Service in Kalahandi

Key Points

Vedanta Aluminium launches Odisha’s first 24x7 telemedicine facility in Lanjigarh, inaugurated by Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, set to benefit 70,000 people across 70 villages.
Lanjigarh/Kalahandi, May 7: In a landmark initiative to strengthen healthcare access in remote regions, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Hon’ble Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Odisha, inaugurated Vedanta Aluminium’s first-of-its-kind 24x7 Telemedicine Facility in Lanjigarh, Kalahandi district. The facility, launched in partnership with Tata 1mg through a virtual event, is expected to benefit over 70,000 people across nearly 70 villages in Kalahandi and adjoining areas.

A dedicated Telemedicine Room has been established at Vedanta Lanjigarh Hospital to enable assisted consultations. Beneficiaries can also access free audio and video consultations with nearly 30 specialist and super-specialist doctors via the Tata 1mg App, reducing the need for long-distance travel for medical guidance.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Mahaling said, “Vedanta’s 24x7 telemedicine facility is a meaningful step towards improving healthcare access for communities in Kalahandi, especially in remote tribal and rural areas where timely medical consultation can make a significant difference. Vedanta’s broader work in healthcare, education, women empowerment and livelihoods reflects how responsible industry can support the state’s development priorities.”

Mr. Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO Vedanta Alumina Business, emphasized Odisha’s central role in Vedanta’s growth journey. “With the launch of this telemedicine service, we are enhancing last-mile access to quality healthcare for those who need it the most. Across Odisha, especially in Kalahandi and Rayagada, many such meaningful interventions are rapidly bringing these areas to the socio-economic mainstream of the state,” he said.

Vedanta’s community development projects have already impacted over 10 lakh lives across Odisha. Initiatives such as Project Aarogya (healthcare outreach), Project Sakhi (women empowerment), and Project Sangam (farmer livelihoods) are transforming grassroots communities. Education initiatives like DAV Vedanta International School and modernized Nand Ghars are expanding access to quality learning, nutrition, and healthcare support.
