Odisha Govt to Reassess Subhadra Yojana Beneficiaries in High-Level Meet Today

Key Points

Govt seeks reports from Transport, Food, and Health departments to reassess disqualified women.

Focus on four-wheeler ownership, land records, and deceased beneficiary data.

Over 1 crore women already benefited; ₹55,825 crore allocated for 5 years.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 10: A high-level review meeting of the Subhadra Yojana is scheduled to be held on Wednesday to reassess the status of previously excluded beneficiaries.

The meeting, led by the Women & Child Development Department, aims to ensure that no eligible woman is left out of Odisha’s flagship financial empowerment scheme.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida confirmed that the government is committed to inclusivity and has sought detailed reports from three key departments — Commerce & Transport, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, and Health. These reports will guide decisions on re-including women who were earlier disqualified.

The Commerce & Transport Department has been tasked with verifying data on women who own four-wheelers, a criterion that previously led to disqualification. Meanwhile, the Health Department has been asked to submit an updated list of deceased beneficiaries to prevent duplication or misallocation. The Food Supplies Department is reviewing land ownership records of women who have sold paddy, to assess their eligibility under the scheme.

Launched in September 2024, the Subhadra Yojana provides ₹10,000 annually to women aged 21–60, disbursed in two instalments. Over 1 crore women have already benefitted from the initiative, which has a total outlay of ₹55,825 crore and will run until 2029.

Today’s meeting is expected to pave the way for more inclusive implementation, ensuring that genuine beneficiaries are not left behind due to technical or procedural exclusions.
