Odisha Govt to Distribute 5.9 Lakh New Ration Cards on Panchayati Raj Day

Bhubaneswar, Apr 22: The Odisha government will distribute new ration cards on April 24 as part of its Panchayati Raj Day celebrations.
Announcing this significant initiative on Tuesday, Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra shared that the state government plans to issue 5.9 lakh new ration cards.
This scheme aims to ensure food security for eligible citizens who have not yet been included in the public distribution system (PDS).
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will personally launch the distribution drive from Puri, while district-level events will be held simultaneously across the state under the supervision of District Collectors.
The state government has instructed district authorities to prepare and distribute the ration cards promptly.

✨Despite this initiative, officials pointed out that 25 lakh beneficiaries have not yet completed their e-KYC processes. Officers have been directed to conduct field visits, verify the pending cases, and submit their reports.
Following the completion of verification, those beneficiaries who fail to meet the eligibility criteria will be excluded from the scheme.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra emphasised the Odisha government's commitment to leaving no eligible individual behind while ensuring transparency and accountability in the distribution process.
