Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: The Govt of Odisha has signed as many as 17 MoUs (Memorandum of Understandings) with various investors Wednesday during the 'Agri Industry & Food Processing' session on the second day of the Utkarsh Odisha - Make In Odisha Conclave 2025.
The state government has also introduced new policy for the cold storages in Odisha. The new policy has been launched by Deputy CM KV Singh Deo, Gokulananda Mallick, State Minister of Fisheries & ARD (Animal Resources Development) and MSME, and Rabi Narayan Naik, Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water.
"This is the best time to invest in Odisha. The food processing industry is very capable of bringing revolution. Under the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana, we are encouraging farmers and entrepreneurs as our our government is working towards smart farming and digital marketing," said Singh Deo, who is also in charge of Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment, Energy departments.
"Organic farming is the focus of our government. Therefore, we are inviting you to come and invest in Odisha's agro-industry and food processing industry. We also invite the young entrepreneurs to come forward to bring a new revolution in this industry," he added.
Mallick's Speech
"Odisha has a lot of potential. The state is ready to play a leading role. We have ample potential for setting up agro-based industries. We are far behind in this sector compared to other countries": Mallick on Agro Sector
"Odisha is lagging behind in fish production and export. The seafood industry in India is a Rs 60,000 crore market, but in Odisha, it is limited to only Rs 2,000-3,000 crore. We need to increase it. The young entrepreneurs will become a Dharmapada of a developed Odisha": Mallick on Fishing Sector
"We are exporting mangoes, dragon food, turmeric from Odisha. We are moving ahead in the areas of chillies, pumpkin, sunflower, cashew, ginger, shrimp and cauliflower. There are many possibilities for egg production. There is a requirement of 1.5 crore eggs in the state, but our production is only one crore eggs. Therefore, we are going to bring a new policy to increase egg production to make ourselves more self-reliant": Mallick on Food Production
