Bhubaneswar, Jul 23: The Odisha Government is actively considering the installation of CCTV cameras across all government and private schools in the state, said to School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.

The Minister stated that plans are underway to install CCTV systems in classrooms and school premises, following the model adopted by CBSE-affiliated institutions.

The Minister stated that discussions to implement the plan is underway, with cameras expected to be placed in classrooms and other key areas of school campuses.

In addition to CCTV surveillance, the government has mandated the formation of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) in every school to address cases of harassment and ensure prompt grievance redressal.

Moreover, dedicated helpline numbers will also be launched to ensure students can easily report grievances and receive timely support, said the Minister.

Minister Gond stated that further steps to enhance child protection will be discussed in upcoming inter-departmental meetings. Once finalised and approved by the state cabinet, the measures will be implemented across urban and rural schools.
