Odisha Govt Perturbed Over Income Taxpayers Having Ration Cards

Bhubaneswar, Jan 18: Odisha government is perturbed after finding out that many income taxpayers were getting the facilities through ration cards.
Krushna Chandra Patra, Minister of Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, slammed the previous BJD government, led by now LoP (Leader of Opposition) Naveen Patnaik.
The fact came out after the food supplies and consumer welfare department got a report over the irregularities.
"The process has been initiated to discard these income taxpayers from ration card list. They were allowed to get the ration cards during the previous government," said Patra.
In addition, the Food Supplies Minister said that the exact number of ration card-holding taxpayers and how much benifits they have got is under investigation.
"They will be removed from the list permanently once the department gets the full data," Patra informed.
As per the report, approximately four lakh benificiaries had got ration cards.
