Bhubaneswar, Aug 13: In a progressive move to promote gender equality and strengthen women’s safety, Odisha Higher Education Minister Suraj Suryavansi on Wednesday announced the launch of the SAFE (Shaktishree Actions for Female Empowerment) campaign in the State. The initiative is designed to raise awareness on women’s rights and empower young women through education, training, and community engagement.
The campaign will feature bi-annual self-defence camps across colleges and universities, equipping female students with practical skills to protect themselves in vulnerable situations. In addition, awareness workshops will be conducted to educate participants on legal rights, safety protocols, and gender sensitivity.
Minister Suryavansi emphasized that SAFE is not just a symbolic gesture but a structured, action-oriented program aimed at creating safer spaces for women in educational institutions and beyond. “Empowerment begins with awareness and confidence. SAFE will help our daughters walk fearlessly and dream freely,” he said during the announcement.
