Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: The state government is strongly committed to the welfare of the lawyers in Odisha, says Prithviraj Harichandan, Minister of Law, Works & Excise.
Speaking about the welfare of lawyers in the state, Harichandan said that the state government is committed towards the lawyers' welfare.
"The state government has doubled the allowance for lawyers in case of death or retirement," said the Odisha Law Minister.
Explaining his statement Harichandan said that the budget for the said allowance has been increased by the state government to Rs 10 crores from the previous budget of Rs 5 crore.
"This amount of 10 crores has been given to Odisha Advocate Welfare Trust on behalf of the state government," stated the Law Minister.
The increase in allowance means, the law personnel will get Rs 9 lakh instead of Rs 4.5 lakh, they were getting during the previous government.
Harichandan also spoke about the ongoing talks in media over the appointment of new Chief Administrative Secretary, saying the government will take the call at the right time.
"The criteria for the selection process and the appointment of the new Chief Administrative Secretary will remain the same," stated the Law Minister.
"The appointment will be done in accordance with the rules. (I know) media has been talking about it. But the state government will take a call at the right time," he asserted before signing off.
