Odisha Govt Has Received Over 12K Ration Cards From Ineligible Card Holders, Says Food Supplies Minister

Bhubaneswar, Mar 2: The government has received over 12,000 ration cards from ineligible card holders of the scheme. Among them, 4500 govt employees have returned the card, said Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
On the daily basis, around 3-4K people are returning their cards. So far, ration cards of around 4 lakh dead people have been removed from the list of beneficiaries, said the Minister.
The minister once again urged people, ineligible for the scheme, to return the card and said people with Rs 10000 income in rural areas and people with income of Rs 15000 in urban areas to return the card.
"No action will be taken those who surrendered their cards, However, if caught after the deadline, strict action will be taken accordingly," said the Minister.

✨Earlier, on March 1, the State government launched a website for the issuance of new ration cards. Till now, 15000 applications have been received through the portal.
