Bhubaneswar, Feb 18: The Odisha government has constituted a three-member high-level committee to conduct an on-the-spot investigation to know under what circumstances a female student from Nepal died in her hostel room in the KIIT University campus and why Nepali students were forced to leave the campus.
Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj shared the information with media persons. The committee comprised the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Home and Commissioner-Cum-Secretary, and Women and Child Welfare Department.
The Minister said appropriate legal and administrative actions will be taken based on the fact-finding committee's report. Also, reports of use of force against students by private individuals are being investigated and those responsible will be held accountable as per law, the government said.

On Sunday, a Nepali student was found dead in her hotel room on campus number 6 of the KIIT University. There was tension on the campus following the incident.
The students were also assaulted by the security guards. The students were forcibly sent to Cuttack railway station in a bus by the KIIT authorities.
