Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: The Odisha government has directed all departments not to hold official meetings on Mondays, in order to prioritise grievance hearings across government offices, officials said on Saturday.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg issued instructions to all departments following discussions at a secretary-level meeting. The directive emphasises that grievance redressal must receive top priority every Monday, ensuring that citizens’ complaints are heard and addressed without administrative distractions.
According to the order, no department will schedule meetings on Mondays, thereby allowing officials to devote their time to grievance hearings. The move is aimed at strengthening accountability and improving public service delivery.

✨In addition, the government has decided that every third
Saturday of the month will be dedicated to reviewing flagship projects. Around
10 to 11 major schemes will be taken up for evaluation during these sessions,
with a focus on monitoring progress and identifying areas that require
corrective measures.

Officials said the twin decisions reflect the administration’s commitment to citizen-centric governance and effective implementation of development programmes. By institutionalising grievance hearings and project reviews, the government hopes to enhance transparency and responsiveness.
The Chief Secretary expressed confidence that the measures would help streamline governance, improve efficiency, and reinforce public trust in the administration.
