Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Thursday urged graduating students of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela, to embrace innovation and entrepreneurship, transforming themselves into job creators rather than job seekers. He was addressing the university’s 12th Convocation Ceremony, where hundreds of students received their degrees.

Call for Innovation

Dr. Kambhampati emphasized that the world is being reshaped by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, renewable energy, biotechnology, and space exploration. He noted that India is not a mere spectator but a leader in this transformation, with initiatives like Digital India, Startup India, and Make in India opening vast opportunities for engineers to innovate and lead.

India’s Startup Ecosystem

Highlighting India’s rise as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally, the Governor pointed to the success of young entrepreneurs in clean energy, healthcare technology, space research, and sustainable materials. He urged graduates to carry forward the spirit of innovation nurtured at BPUT and contribute to building enterprises that serve both humanity and the environment

Dr. Kambhampati praised Odisha’s steady emergence as a hub of technological progress, citing new investments in semiconductors, renewable energy, defence manufacturing, and digital infrastructure. He reminded students that they have a vital role in shaping a Viksit Odisha that contributes to a Viksit Bharat by 2047. True success, he said, lies not in wealth or titles but in the value added to others’ lives through integrity, empathy, and service.

University’s Role

The Governor lauded BPUT’s adoption of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its focus on industry collaboration, innovation cells, and incubation centres. These initiatives, he said, are preparing students for leadership in research, development, and social transformation.

Professor S.C. Sharma, former Director of NAAC and currently Advisor at Jain University, also addressed the convocation. BPUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Amiya Kumar Rath delivered the welcome address.
