Bhubaneswar, June 17: The State Government has intensified its efforts to combat a rapidly spreading diarrhea outbreak that originated in Jajpur district. The situation has escalated, affecting multiple districts, prompting Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja to convene an emergency meeting to assess the crisis.
With five districts facing a surge in cases, all district administrations have been placed on high alert. Measures such as sanitizing water sources, ensuring hospitals are prepared, and conducting awareness campaigns have been implemented. Officials have directed officials to make public announcements via microphones to inform residents about precautionary steps.
According to reports, Jajpur district alone has 247 patients under treatment, with eight fatalities linked to the outbreak. Cuttack has recorded over 150 patients, while Dhenkanal’s Bhuban region has 80 cases. Balasore district's Simulia area has identified more than 25 patients, whereas Bhadrak’s district hospital is treating 11 affected individuals. Keonjhar’s Anandapur subdivision hospital has admitted 32 cases.
Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida has advised residents to be vigilant about their drinking water and food hygiene.

✨Four state-level teams comprising senior health officials, experts, and advisors have been dispatched to the affected regions, including Bhuban, Banki, Dharmasala, Badachana, and Bhandaripokhari. These teams will coordinate with local authorities to oversee water purification efforts, house-to-house screenings, early detection of cases, distribution of medicines and chlorine tablets, and extensive awareness drives to contain the outbreak.
With proactive measures underway, authorities remain hopeful that the outbreak will soon be brought under control.
