Odisha Government Has Directed OPSC To Fill Doctor Vacancies: Health Minister On Sanctioned Posts

Bhubaneswar, Mar 17: Odisha Government has directed the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to fill all the vacancies of sanctioned doctor posts in the state, said Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling.
Responding to a question raised by Brahmagiri MLA Upasana Mohapatra at the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Mahaling said that 6,760 doctor positions are currently vacant in the state.
“There are 19,984 sanctioned doctor posts, of which 6,760 positions are currently vacant,” stated Mahaling. “The government has directed OPSC to fill the vacancies,” the Odisha Health Minister added.
Mahaling also revealed that the state government is considering proposals to establish new medical colleges in districts, which don’t have a medical college.
According to the data, shared by the Health Minister, Odisha has 12 medical colleges, two dental colleges, six private medical colleges, one AIIMS, and two postgraduate institutions.

The Odisha Assembly has been adjourned until 12.15 pm Monday after the Congress continued their protest over various issues during the question hour and didn’t allow the house to run smoothly. The Speaker then decided to adjourn the house.
