Bhubaneswar, Feb 10: The Odisha government has approved industrial projects worth ₹4,100 crore in a bid to boost the state’s industrial growth.
Across 11 districts, a total of 23 projects have received the green signal, with the potential to generate nearly 10,000 jobs.
Among the key projects, Ganjam will soon host a
state-of-the-art drone manufacturing unit. These advanced drones will be
developed for defence and space applications, marking Odisha’s entry into
high-tech aerospace manufacturing. In Bhadrak, a ship repair and construction
facility will be established, strengthening the state’s maritime
infrastructure.

Khordha and Cuttack are set to become hubs for pharmaceutical industries, with investments of around ₹200 crore earmarked for large pharma companies. Additionally, Khordha and Puri will see the development of five-star hotels, while Sambalpur and Puri will host four-star hotels, boosting Odisha’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Cuttack will also get a logistics park, enhancing supply chain and transport efficiency, while Khordha will witness the establishment of a railway component manufacturing unit, further diversifying the state’s industrial portfolio.
The government’s approval of these projects reflects its commitment to balanced regional development, job creation, and strengthening Odisha’s position as an emerging industrial hub. With investments spanning defence, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, logistics, and manufacturing, the projects are expected to transform the state’s economic landscape.
Officials have stated that these projects will not only
create direct employment opportunities but also generate indirect jobs through
ancillary industries and services. The focus on advanced technology sectors
like drones and pharmaceuticals highlights Odisha’s ambition to align with
national priorities in defence, healthcare, and infrastructure.
