Bhubaneswar, Mar 2: The Odisha Government on Saturday announced the salary hike of the contractual arts and Physical education teachers of the upper primary high schools of Odisha. 

Their salary has been hiked to Rs 10,000 from the current Rs 7,000. Apart from this Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik has also announced that they will get the salary for 12 months instead of the current salary of 10 months. 

Along with this they are to take 30 periods in a month in place of the earlier 24 periods per month. 

The female contractual arts and sports teachers will also be entitled to maternity leave like the other teachers. 

This step will benefit the 4,605 contractual arts and sports teachers of the state.
