Every CHC and PHC will have dedicated facilities for heatstroke management.

Odisha’s Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has assured that COVID-19 concerns remain minimal.

Puri, Jun 9: As the holy Rath Yatra 2025 approaches, the Odisha government has announced 365 special trains in addition to the regular 850 trains to accommodate the massive influx of devotees.

To streamline ticketing, 35 additional ticket counters will be set up, along with mobile ticketing services provided by trained personnel. Information display boards will be strategically placed to guide travellers.

Preparations For Heat

Recognizing the extreme summer conditions, the Odisha Health Department has implemented special measures to combat heatstroke. Every Community Health Centre (CHC) and Primary Health Centre (PHC) will have dedicated facilities for heatstroke management.

Areas without air conditioning will be equipped with coolers, and ORS corners will be established at key locations to provide hydration support.

Medical Preparedness

To ensure medical preparedness, hospital beds have been increased at major locations, including Puri District Hospital (6 beds), Utkal Hindi Vidyapith (6 beds), Jagannath Ballabh Parking (10 beds), and North Gate (25 beds with high-tech facilities). Additional arrangements have been made at Brahmagiri and Rebana Nuagaon for uninterrupted darshan.

COVID-19 Concerns

Odisha’s Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has assured that COVID-19 concerns remain minimal, with only 49 cases reported statewide, of which 15 have recovered and 34 remain active.

While mask usage is not mandatory, it is recommended for safety. The minister advised vulnerable individuals to avoid crowded areas and take necessary precautions.

With these extensive arrangements, Odisha is set to welcome millions of devotees for a safe and seamless Rath Yatra experience.
