Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Monday assured that the flood situation across the state is under control, despite heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours affecting multiple districts.
Rivers such as Brahmani, Baitarani, Budhabalanga, and Subarnarekha are being closely monitored, with some flowing above danger levels.
The Brahmani river is currently at alert level, while the Baitarani remains steady at Akhuapada. The Budhabalanga is under control, but the Subarnarekha at Rajghat and Mathani is slightly above the danger mark. Jamsolaghat continues to be a concern due to rising water levels.
Districts including Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar have reported flood-related impacts. Jajpur is the worst-hit, with 46 villages and 14 panchayats affected. Bhandaripokhari in Bhadrak has also seen significant waterlogging.

Minister Pujari stated that evacuation and relief operations are underway, with free cooked meals and dry food being provided at shelter camps. He urged residents not to remain in flooded areas due to risks such as snake bites and structural damage. Police have been instructed to assist in relocating people from vulnerable homes.
District Collectors have been directed to ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential services and conduct damage assessments.
The Minister added that water levels are expected to recede
gradually, and compensation will be provided to affected families once the
situation stabilizes.
