Bhubaneswar, Jul 4: Amidst rising concerns over education continuity in flood-hit areas, Odisha's School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond has stated that decisions regarding school closures will be made by respective District Collectors based on ground assessments.

In the wake of ongoing flood conditions across several regions, School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said that authorities are taking proactive steps to ensure that education remains uninterrupted.

Schools will continue to function in flood-affected districts unless safety becomes a concern, he added.

The Minister clarified that while no significant disruption to learning has been reported so far, precautionary closures or relocations may be implemented in areas where infrastructure or access is compromised.

In case serious difficulties arise—such as flooded school buildings or unsafe surroundings—schools in those areas may be temporarily closed, he further stated.

Meanwhile, arrangements will be made to ensure that children in accessible and safe zones continue their studies without interruption.

The administration is evaluating current ground realities, and decisions will be taken accordingly, said the Minister.
