The drive is being conducted under the ‘Surakshita Odisha, Viksit Odisha’ campaign, with Fire Services teams carrying out surprise checks at malls, offices, cinema halls and residential buildings. The department had earlier informed establishments about the enforcement exercise.

Officials are inspecting whether buildings that require fire safety certification have obtained the necessary certificate and installed the prescribed fire safety equipment. Establishments found violating the norms after the stipulated compliance period may face action under applicable rules.
