SIR / Odisha Final Voter List Released, 20 Lakh Names Cut

Bhubaneswar, Sep 23: The final voter list for the state has been released following the Special Summary Revision (SIR), bringing clarity to the electoral roll ahead of upcoming polls.

According to the updated figures, the state now has a total of 3,16,32,754 registered voters. At the same time, 20,57,334 names have been removed from the rolls.

Officials have urged citizens to verify whether their names are included in the final list and ensure that personal details are accurate. If a name is missing or any information is incorrect, individuals can apply for corrections or inclusion.

New voters can register through Form‑6, overseas Indian voters through Form‑6A, and corrections can be sought via Form‑8.

The publication of the final list has triggered political reactions. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) alleged that certain names were deliberately excluded, particularly those belonging to minority communities or individuals critical of the government.

The party questioned the transparency of the process. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dismissed the allegations, insisting that the SIR exercise was conducted fairly and involved opposition parties at multiple stages. Meanwhile, the Congress has yet to comment on the matter.

The voter demographics in the final roll show 1,61,30,319 male voters, 1,54,99,661 female voters, and 2,774 third‑gender voters.

Political analysts note that the release of the final list is a crucial step in ensuring free and fair elections. With the revision process complete, attention now turns to how parties will mobilize voters and address concerns raised over exclusions.
