Key Points

Odisha cuts industrial grounding time from 400 to 165 days, boosting investor confidence.

Over 77,000 jobs created in 15 months; 73% secured by Odia youth.

₹6.01 lakh crore investment approved across 269 projects, with textile sector leading the charge.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 15: In a significant boost to Odisha’s industrial momentum, Industries Secretary Hemant Sharma announced that the state has drastically reduced the time required for grounding industrial projects — from 300–400 days earlier to just 165 days now.

This acceleration reflects the government’s renewed focus on improving the ease of doing business and attracting large-scale investments.

Between June 2024 and September 2025, Odisha has successfully created 77,894 jobs, of which 56,859 have been secured by local youth.

Under the flagship initiative Utkarsh Odisha, the government has set an ambitious target of generating 3.75 lakh jobs, and has already achieved 20% of that goal.

In the last 16 months, the BJP-led government has convened 16 high-level meetings and approved 269 industrial projects. These projects are expected to bring in ₹6.01 lakh crore in capital investment and generate 3.76 lakh employment opportunities across sectors.

The textile sector has emerged as a standout performer, attracting ₹1,516 crore in investment within just 131 days and creating 17,995 jobs. Sharma emphasized that Odisha’s proactive approach, including pre-positioning land and streamlining approvals, has made the state a preferred destination for investors.

He also highlighted the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, noting that the majority of jobs created are being secured by Odia youth. With continued policy reforms and sector-specific summits like Odisha Tex-2025, the state is positioning itself as a manufacturing and textile hub in Eastern India.

The Industries Department is confident that these developments will not only boost employment but also transform Odisha’s economic landscape in the coming years.
