Bhubaneswar, Sept 1: The Odisha government has extended the application deadline for the ‘Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana’ to September 8, 2025, following requests from working journalists across the state, informed the Information & Public Relations Department on Monday.
The original deadline was August 30, but the extension aims to ensure broader participation in the welfare initiative.
This marks the second extension of the application window, reflecting the government’s responsiveness to the needs of the journalist community. Applications for both new enrollment and renewal are being accepted online through the official portal: https://owjws.odisha.gov.in/ .
The health insurance scheme, launched by the Odisha government, provides cashless health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family for accredited and working journalists across the state. Beneficiaries can avail treatment at empanelled hospitals without bearing out-of-pocket expenses, making it a vital support system for media professionals and their families.
