Odisha Experiences First Monsoon Rainfall Of The Year

Bhubaneswar, June 8: Odisha Saturday experienced its first monsoon rainfall earlier than expected as the southwest monsoon touched few of the state's southern parts. The southwest monsoon touched the state four days earlier than expected.
"Light to Moderate Rainfall has occurred at a few places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha with Heavy Rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Malkangiri and Nayagarh of Odisha," the Meteorological Department said in a release.
The release also said that three places -- Danagadi (Jajpur), Korukunda (Malkangiri) and Gania (Nayagarh) -- experienced the maximum amount of rainfall of 8 cms.
