Bhubaneswar, Sep 12: In a major breakthrough under its ongoing “Enforcement Special Drive,” the Odisha Excise Department seized illegal substances worth ₹2.63 crore in a single day, marking the 11th day of the operation.
The department registered 263 cases and arrested 154 accused individuals, showcasing its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against illicit liquor and narcotics.
The crackdown led to the confiscation of 13,827 BL of illicit liquor, 429 BL of duty-paid liquor, and the destruction of 1.41 lakh litres of fermented wash used in illegal brewing. Additionally, 900 kg of mahua flowers — a key ingredient in country liquor — and 33 vehicles used in transportation were seized.

✨The drive also made significant headway in narcotics control, with 23 NDPS cases registered. Authorities seized 324 kg of cannabis (ganja) and 647 grams of heroin, further tightening the grip on drug trafficking networks.
Officials stated that the operation reflects the department’s aggressive stance against illegal trade and its broader goal of safeguarding public health and safety. The Excise Department reiterated its commitment to continue such drives across the state, ensuring strict enforcement and community protection.
