Rayagada, Jan 21: A drunk man was electrocuted and engulfed in flames after touching a high-tension electric wire on top of train at Rayagada railway station here in Odisha on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Narasingha Kanda (55), a resident of Badanal village under Rajkhariar police station in Odisha’s Nuapada district.
As per reports, Kanda, in an inebriated state, climbed on the top of a stationary goods train at the Rayagada railway station and was engulfed in flames when he touched a 25,000-volt overhead high-tension electric wire with his bare hands this afternoon.
Kanda was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital here. Later, he succumbed to his burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital, sources said.

✨According to sources, Kanda was staying in Secunderabad with his son. The incident occurred when he was returning to his native village in another train.
In a viral video, Kanda was seen grabbing a high-voltage power cable with his bare hands even after repeated appeals by the onlookers to alight from the rooftop of the goods train.
Meanwhile, police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
