Odisha DGP’s Stern Message To Maoists: ‘Renounce Violence, Embrace Peace’

Sambalpur, Apr 3: During his visit to Sambalpur, Odisha's Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania issued a strong call to Maoists to renounce violence and join the mainstream for a peaceful existence.
Highlighting ongoing anti-Maoist operations, he commended the collaborative efforts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh police along with CRPF, which recently achieved significant success in combating Maoist activities in the region.
DGP Khurania reviewed the law and order situation during a high-level meeting with the SPs of districts under the Northern Range.
He emphasised enhanced vigilance along sensitive areas near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh-Andhra Pradesh borders. Specific operational successes in areas like Nuapada were lauded, where police forces dismantled key Maoist setups earlier this year.
DGP Khurania urged Maoists to surrender and assured them of proper rehabilitation under Odisha's surrender and rehabilitation policy. He also emphasized the need for enhanced security arrangements ahead of major festivals like Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti.
During his visit to Sambalpur, the DGP honoured meritorious police personnel and prayed at the Samaleswari Temple.
