Bhubaneswar, May 28: Health officials in Odisha have identified the second COVID-positive case in the state, raising concerns about the virus's spread.

The patient, who displayed symptoms consistent with COVID-19, was tested using an antigen kit, which confirmed the presence of the virus.

To further validate the accuracy of the antigen test, authorities have sent the testing kit to the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) in Bhubaneswar for a thorough assessment.

Meanwhile, the symptomatic individual's sample has been collected for an RTPCR test, which is expected to provide a definitive diagnosis.

The state health department has stated that an official confirmation will be made once the RTPCR results are available. This development has prompted discussions on the effectiveness and reliability of antigen testing, as it plays a crucial role in rapid COVID detection.

As Odisha continues its efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, health officials urge residents to follow safety protocols, including mask-wearing, social distancing, and hygiene measures. The authorities remain vigilant, ensuring adequate healthcare responses to manage potential outbreaks.
