Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: Odisha demanded a special package in the pre-budget consultation meeting at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan on Friday.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi requested the Central Government to provide more assistance for urbanization in the state.
The Chief Minister proposed a special package of Rs 10,000 crore for the development of tourism in Odisha. He sought Central support for new industrial townships at Jharsuguda, and "Salt Khala" at Gopalpur to accelerate economic growth in southern and western Odisha respectively. Besides, he urged for adequate budgetary provisions under the Jal Jeevan Mission, healthcare, education, and infrastructure for Odisha.

✨He also requested the Central government to include 11 additional blocks of Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar districts under the Aspirational Block Programme. The Odisha Chief Minister, who holds the Finance portfolio, attended the pre-budget consultation meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
The meeting was held to seek suggestions from the Finance Ministers of all States and Union Territories for the upcoming Budget 2025-26.
