Cuttack, Mar 13: The Crime Branch of Odisha Police Thursday arrested Soumya Sankar Chakra alias Raja Chakra in connection with the multi-crore scam connected to Gandhamardhan Loading Agency & Transporting Co-operative Society Ltd.

This was informed by Crime Branch ADG Vinaytosh Mishra.

Notably, Chakra had filed an anticipatory bail petition after the EOW interrogated him in connection with the case. However, the Orissa High Court rejected his anticipatory bail petition.

The court had also rejected the bail application of four associates of Chakra.

The EOW conducted raids at Raja Chakra's residence and office as part of their probe into the matter.

The investigations are part of the probe into a larger fraud, estimated to run into as much as Rs 500 crores.
