Cuttack, Apr 22: The Odisha men’s cricket team has embarked on a month-long exposure tour to Sri Lanka, aiming to enhance their skills and gain valuable international experience.
The 30-member squad, comprising senior Ranji players along with under-23 and under-19 talents, will play four Test matches and three one-day matches during their visit.
The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) organised this tour to provide players with the opportunity to compete against international-level cricketers and adapt to foreign pitch conditions.
The selection of the squad was based on outstanding performances in tournaments like the Kalahandi Cup, with players from various age groups making the cut.
Notable players in the squad include Subhranshu Senapati, Sandeep Pattnaik, Aashirbad Swain, Rajesh Dhuper, Saideep Mahapatra, and Rajesh Mohanty. These players, along with their teammates, aim to utilize this exposure to prepare for upcoming domestic competitions like the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Subhranshu, a key player in the team, expressed optimism about the tour, stating, "This exposure tour is a golden opportunity for us to learn and grow. We aim to leverage the experience gained here to elevate Odisha cricket to the top level in the upcoming BCCI domestic season."
The OCA hopes that this initiative will strengthen the team and help them achieve greater success in national tournaments. The results of this tour will be closely watched as they could play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Odisha cricket.
