Odisha Continues To Reel Under Heat Wave, 41 Dead In 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar, May 31: Odisha continued to battle heat wave conditions in several areas with the maximum temperature recorded at over 45 degree Celsius at Sambalpur by 2.30 PM on Friday.
At least 41 people died of suspected heat stroke disorders in Odisha in the last 24 hours. Most of the death cases have been reported from the districts of Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Balangir, sources said.
According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Sambalpur recorded the maximum temperature at 45.2 degree Celsius by 2.30 PM today followed by Jharsuguda at 44.6 degree Celsius, Hirakud at 44.5 degree Celsius and Rourkela at 39.4 degree Celsius.
Bhubaneswar clocked mercury level at 34 degree Celsius with 75% relative humidity.

✨The Met Centre today issued an orange alert for heat wave for several districts in Odisha for the next two days and yellow alert for the next three days.
"Heat wave to severe heat wave and warm night condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Kandhamal and Boudh during the next 24 hours" the latest bulletin said. An Orange warning has been issued for all these districts.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrata Sahu today issued an advisory urging people not to venture out from 11 AM to 3 PM for the next three days.
