Bhubaneswar, July 24: The Higher Education Department has issued a directive mandating all government and private colleges to actively promote drug-free campuses.

As part of the initiative, students will be made aware of the dangers of substance abuse and encouraged to maintain a drug-free lifestyle.

Colleges are also required to educate students about the MANAS portal, which provides a space to report concerns and seek support related to drug addiction.

Students will be empowered to lodge complaints and share information through various forums without fear or stigma.

To further strengthen awareness, institutions have been instructed to organise essay-writing and other campaigns focused on substance abuse prevention, involving active participation from college students.

The directive marks a significant step in creating a healthier and more conscious campus environment across the state.
