Bhubaneswar, Aug 15: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday awarded the prestigious President’s Medals to 19 police personnel during the state-level Police Medal Presentation Ceremony held in Bhubaneswar.
The event recognized officers for their exceptional bravery, distinguished service, and noteworthy contributions to public safety. Six personnel were honored with the President’s Medal for Gallantry for their courageous roles in anti-Maoist operations in Khaprakhol, Balangir district.
Among the gallantry awardees were Armed Police Sub-Inspector Girish Majhi and SOG Havildar Pabitra Sahu. Havildar Umesh Munda, SOG Commandos Pitambar Satanami and Susanta Sagar, and OSAP Commando Kabi Raut also received the medal for their fearless service in high-risk zones.
Two officers were awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service: Vigilance Superintendent Saroj Kumar Samal and Constable Satyabadi Mallik. Their consistent dedication and integrity in service were lauded by the Chief Minister.

✨Additionally, 11 personnel were honored with medals for Meritorious Service, recognizing their long-standing commitment and professionalism across various divisions of the Odisha Police.
Chief Minister Majhi praised the recipients for their unwavering dedication and emphasized the importance of recognizing public servants who uphold the values of courage, discipline, and duty. “These medals reflect the spirit of service and sacrifice that defines our police force,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by senior police officials, dignitaries, and family members of the awardees, who expressed pride and gratitude for the recognition.
The President’s Medal is one of the highest honors bestowed upon police personnel in India, acknowledging acts of bravery and distinguished service that go beyond the call of duty.
